Guiyang sees surging tourism over New Year holiday

During the 2026 New Year holiday from Jan 1 to 3, Guiyang launched a total of 246 featured cultural and tourism activities. Thanks to its rich offerings, diverse experiential settings, and comprehensive support measures, the city maintained a safe, orderly, and civilized tourism market while unleashing consumption vitality.

Over the holiday, the city recorded 415,000 overnight stays, including 1,437 inbound overnight visits.

In its scenic areas, 47 key A‑rated tourist attractions in Guiyang received 753,700 visits. The accommodation market also rebounded steadily, with an average occupancy rate of 68.8 percent across 35 key hotels.

The "Cool Guiyang · City of Music" 2026 Roadside Concert Carnival, held at the North Square of Guiyang International Conference & Exhibition Center, featured live performances lasting over 10 hours, igniting the New Year atmosphere with music.

As the Guizhou main venue for the National New Year Mountain Climbing event, Qianlingshan Park received more than 100,000 visits during the holiday, becoming a top destination for hiking and New Year blessing rituals.

Other highlights included the local specialty market at Huaxihu Park, Wudang district's culinary selections, and the traditional New Year pig banquets in Gaozhai township, Kaiyang county, all of which drew strong visitor engagement.

Guiyang will continue to introduce high‑quality cultural and tourism products and activities, enhance visitor experience and satisfaction, and promote the high‑quality development of its culture and tourism sector.
