In the first quarter of 2025, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province signed agreements on 143 new projects with a total contract investment of 43.48 billion yuan ($6.05 billion), injecting strong momentum into the region's high-quality development.
A major highlight among the projects is Guiyang's low-altitude flight service base in Xiuwen county, which opened during the May Day holiday. It provides aerial tours aboard helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, offering panoramic views of the local landscape.
Spanning over 300 mu (20 hectares), the base includes a 600-meter runway, a 9,000-square-meter training and office complex, a 3,000-sq-m assembly workshop, and a 500-sq-m aircraft exhibition hall. The facility has established a comprehensive industrial chain integrating research and development, manufacturing, training, and application.
Guiyang and Gui'an have accelerated the development of the low-altitude economy this year. On March 1, the region hosted a low-altitude economy promotion conference and the first flight ceremony, where agreements on 20 projects worth 10.6 billion yuan were signed. Currently, 133 low-altitude industry projects are in the pipeline, and 99 target enterprises have been identified for future investment.
Wu Kunling, director of the Guiyang bureau of investment promotion, emphasized the implementation of the "5+3" major project mechanism.
She said that the region is focusing on modern mountain agriculture, advanced manufacturing, and modern services, and is building a resource pool around six key industrial sectors.
She also highlighted plans to adjust project databases dynamically and strengthen connections with strategic regions such as the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, aiming to shape a modern industrial system with a strong local character.
